Crypto in Kowloon: the Nathan Road corridor, stop by stop

Crypto in Kowloon is concentrated on one road. The Nathan Road corridor, from Tsim Sha Tsui through Jordan, Yau Ma Tei and Mong Kok to Prince Edward, holds the city's densest cluster of walk-in crypto counters, led by a single building at 608 Nathan Road. Beyond it, Kowloon has plenty of buy-only ATMs, a second hub in Kwun Tong, and the city's worst record for fake crypto shops.

Crypto in Kowloon at a glance

CoinHero, the largest machine network, lists 35 Kowloon locations, and on 30 September 2026 it marked three of them as buy-and-sell: K11 Art Mall in Tsim Sha Tsui, Grand Plaza in Mong Kok and Yue Man Square in Kwun Tong. CoinUnit, Nitroswap, Localcoin and HK Bitcoin ATM add dozens more, many inside 24-hour laundries. Staffed counters are run by chains such as One Satoshi, VBIT and PP Crypto, plus an unknown number of one-room upstairs shops that change names and floors.

Kowloon's machines reach well beyond the corridor. CoinHero's list alone runs through Hung Hom, To Kwa Wan, Kowloon City, San Po Kong, Wong Tai Sin, Tsz Wan Shan, Lok Fu, Lam Tin, Mei Foo and Olympic City. We have not listed them all: operator maps change every week, so treat the cards below as representative and check the live map on the day.

The Nathan Road corridor, stop by stop

Tsim Sha Tsui: Chungking Mansions and the tourist trade

Coming up Exit E at Tsim Sha Tsui you face Chungking Mansions, whose ground floor is famous for late-opening currency exchangers. One Satoshi's Shop 11 sits among them, buying and selling BTC and ETH for cash, and the chain keeps a second, reservation-only desk at K11 Atelier on Salisbury Road. VBIT has a shop in Grafton House on Humphreys Avenue, and smaller USDT-focused operators such as Crypto Panda and BitAny advertise in the area (after the Stablecoins Ordinance, some reportedly quote only privately). Machines include CoinHero's buy-and-sell unit two floors underground at K11 Art Mall and a Nitroswap machine in CKE Shopping Mall at 36 Nathan Road. TST is also where the risks show. In May 2024 a customer sent about HK$1 million in USDT to a TST shop and was handed hell banknotes; three employees were arrested. In January 2026, two staff of a Nathan Road virtual-currency shop were among six people arrested over a ¥51 million robbery in Sheung Wan, suspected of helping handle the loot.

Mong Kok: 608 Nathan Road

Walk north and the corridor peaks at Mong Kok. President Commercial Centre, better known by its W Plaza mall name, is the single densest crypto building in Hong Kong. Wen Wei Po's February 2025 investigation counted about 15 exchange shops and 3 ATMs on one floor, and found that about half required no identity check. One Satoshi's flagship is on the third floor, beside HK Bitcoin ATM's Lamassu machine; Rice is on the first. VBIT sits at 46 Argyle Street, and CoinHero's Grand Plaza machine, open from 7am to midnight, buys back crypto. On the evening of 13 December 2025 three to five men with knives tried to rob a shop owner at closing time in the building; he was injured and nothing was taken. Prince Edward: by appointment

At the northern end, PP Crypto Exchange, trading since 2017 by its own account, has an office on the ninth floor of Prince Centre, 794–802 Nathan Road, a minute from Exit A. Trades above HK$50,000 need an appointment. It is one of the few Kowloon counters that operates more like a small desk than a shopfront.

Nathan Road field notes

Most corridor counters are upstairs, with small signs and irregular hours. The chains publish addresses and opening times; the one-room shops tend to update only on Instagram or Telegram and can move within a month. Call or check the official account before you go rather than searching floor by floor. Have your own wallet address ready, test with a small amount, and ask whether a quote includes fees, the network charge and, for USDT, which chain. When selling, count the notes at the counter before you send coins; when buying, wait until the coins land in your wallet before you leave.

Timing matters too. The attempted robbery at 608 Nathan Road happened at closing time, around 8.40pm, and the big Sheung Wan robberies happened on morning cash runs. Avoid opening and closing hours, never count money on the street, and walk away if a shop suggests finishing the deal at another address or in a car. Keep screenshots, transaction hashes and receipts: if your bank later asks about the source of funds, they are your only record.

Jordan, Yau Ma Tei and Sham Shui Po: Bitcoin ATMs in Kowloon without a counter

Between the two big clusters, Jordan and Yau Ma Tei are machine territory. CoinUnit has units at Sunshine 24 on Woosung Street, Chuang's London Plaza on Nathan Road and a storage unit on Temple Street in Jordan, plus laundries on Kansu Street and Tung On Street in Yau Ma Tei. CoinHero adds 768 Laundry on Shanghai Street and a claw shop in the Fourseas Building. The only counter on this stretch is Crypto Master at 105 Austin Road, known only from social-media posts and sitting on the TST border.

Sham Shui Po, west of the corridor, follows the same pattern: CoinUnit in the Ka Wing Building on Fuk Wing Street and on Un Chau Street in Cheung Sha Wan, CoinHero in a Taketoys shop on Kweilin Street and Hapi Fun on Fuk Wing Street, Nitroswap in Kam Wah Mansion on Cheung Sha Wan Road, and three Localcoin machines. No staffed counter is confirmed. Every CoinHero unit here is buy-only, so if you need to sell, Mong Kok's Grand Plaza is two stops away.

Sham Shui Po and hardware wallets

Sham Shui Po has a crypto angle that has nothing to do with cash. Apliu Street and the Golden Computer Arcade are Hong Kong's hardware bazaar, where you can find cables, phones, mining gear and, among the stalls, hardware wallets. PP Crypto historically sold mining equipment too.

Buy with care. A hardware wallet is only as trustworthy as its supply chain, and a device that arrives opened, pre-configured or with a recovery phrase already printed should be treated as compromised. Buy from the manufacturer or an authorised reseller, set it up yourself, and write down the seed words only when the device generates them. Kowloon East: Kwun Tong and Kowloon Bay

Kowloon's second hub is in the old industrial district turned office quarter. On Hoi Yuen Road, a short walk from Kwun Tong MTR Exit B2, One Satoshi has a counter on the mezzanine of Kwun Tong Plaza and VBIT has a ground-floor shop in the Fook Cheong Building that advertises large trades. CoinHero's buy-and-sell machine is on the second floor of Yue Man Square, and Nitroswap has one in Yue Man Shopping Centre. CoinUnit lists three machines in Kwun Tong and Localcoin one.

Kowloon Bay next door is machine-only: CoinUnit in TBG Mall on Ngau Tau Kok Road, CoinHero at Laundry 360 and at Kai Yip Shopping Centre, both open 24 hours. Crypto HK runs an appointment-only "Members Club" in San Po Kong. The area has its own warning story: on 17 April 2025 a victim brought HK$1 million in cash to an upstairs shop on Hung To Road for USDT; the shop claimed the coins never arrived and a third party left with the cash. West Kowloon's fake-shop problem

The common thread is a shop, or a room dressed up as one, that takes your transfer or your cash first and never completes the other leg. Real counters give a quote, let you count the notes before you send coins, and do not insist on moving the deal to a second location. None of Kowloon's shops is licensed, because no licence exists yet: the government told LegCo in September 2025 that shops are not permitted to offer stablecoins such as USDT to the public, and a dealer licensing bill with no transition period is promised for 2026. Choosing your Kowloon route

If you want a hundred dollars' worth of Bitcoin tonight, any laundromat machine will do, at a steep price. If you want to sell a modest amount for notes, Kowloon is the best region in Hong Kong to do it, with three CoinHero sell machines, a Lamassu at 608 Nathan Road and several counters within walking distance of each other. Compare spreads before you commit, go in daylight and do not bring more cash than the trade.

For anything larger, or anything you want a clean record of, the licensed route is the better one. International apps are another option: CEX.IO accepts cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay and holds registrations in the US, Gibraltar and the EU, but it is not licensed by the SFC.
