The short answer

For a crypto exchange in Tsim Sha Tsui, the anchor is One Satoshi at Shop 11 on the ground floor of Chungking Mansions, a minute from TST MTR Exit E. VBIT has a street shop on Humphreys Avenue, and two CoinHero ATMs, in K11 Art Mall and in Tsim Sha Tsui Mansion, buy crypto back for cash. BitAny and Crypto Panda deal mostly in USDT, but under the stablecoin law that is a grey area.

Tsim Sha Tsui is Kowloon's front door: hotels, the Star Ferry, the China Ferry Terminal for Macau and the mainland, and the busiest stretch of Nathan Road. It draws a mix of customers you do not see together anywhere else in Hong Kong. There are backpackers changing euros at Chungking Mansions and Southeast Asian traders settling in USDT. Office staff buy a little Bitcoin at a laundromat on the way home. Our research counts TST as the city's leading tourist and USDT cluster. It also has a case file to match, so this page spends as much time on safety as on addresses.

For the wider view, TST sits inside our Kowloon region guide. The Bitcoin ATM hub compares every operator's fees, and the crypto shops directory lists counters across all districts.

Chungking Mansions: forex changers and one crypto counter

Chungking Mansions (重慶大廈) at 36–44 Nathan Road needs no introduction to anyone who has backpacked through Asia. Its ground floor holds Hong Kong's best-known cluster of foreign-currency money changers, open late and seven days a week, according to traveller guides and TripAdvisor threads. It is the first stop for many travellers who need Hong Kong dollars.

Crypto arrived in the same arcade. One Satoshi, the largest OTC chain in the city, runs its TST branch at Shop 11 on the ground floor. Per its store list it opens 11:00 to 19:00 on weekdays and 11:00 to 18:00 at weekends and on holidays, and trades BTC, ETH and USDT for cash both ways. The Bitcoin Association of HK guide puts the chain's minimum at HK$1,000 and says it takes personal details above HK$80,000. One Satoshi also keeps a quieter, appointment-only desk at K11 Atelier, 18 Salisbury Road (Exit J), open weekday afternoons, for customers who would rather not do a large trade in a busy arcade. Our One Satoshi review compares its branches.

The building's CKE Shopping Mall also appears in Coin ATM Radar as the site of a Nitroswap machine, listed as open 08:00 to 23:30. We could not confirm that on an operator page, so it is marked as aggregator data below. Financial blog Talkmoney has written that USDT shops concentrate in TST and around Chungking Mansions. A compiled list from January 2025 adds names such as BTC Shop HK, Otcxpert, Crypto Pro and Coinfactory in TST, but that list is old and we did not verify those shops.

Beyond Chungking Mansions, TST's counters split into two types. Some have street frontage and posted hours. Others keep a website and a WhatsApp number and give an address only once you ask.

VBIT on Humphreys Avenue

VBIT's TST shop is Shop O on the ground floor of 嘉芬大廈 on Humphreys Avenue, about 50 metres from Exit A2, and opens daily from 11:00 to 19:30. Our earlier research file had it as Grafton House on Kimberley Road; the operator's own page says Humphreys Avenue, which is what we follow. It trades BTC, ETH, SOL, BNB, DOGE and TRX, handles USDT only on the payout side, and says it applies KYC to all trades.

BitAny and Crypto Panda

These two are USDT specialists. BitAny's site describes a Tsim Sha Tsui shop open Monday to Saturday, 10:00 to 19:00, with no minimum trade. It gives no street address and says it must confirm customers' identity under anti-money-laundering law. Crypto Panda advertises no minimum and no fees, settlement in about 15 minutes, and quotes on WhatsApp. Search autocomplete shows people looking for "crypto panda tsim sha tsui", but the site lists no address or hours. After the Stablecoins Ordinance took effect, Caixin, via Yahoo Finance HK, reported that Crypto Panda and Star Coin carried on trading USDT by private inquiry without posted prices. Other shops in Admiralty and TST suspended USDT.

Crypto Master on Austin Road

Crypto Master lists G/F, E11B, 105 Austin Road on Facebook, on the Jordan edge of TST. We found no operator website, so it carries a user-reported tag.

Bitcoin ATMs in Tsim Sha Tsui

TST has five machines on the operator lists we checked. What sets the district apart is that two of the three CoinHero units buy crypto back for cash. On the locator we checked on 30 September 2026, CoinHero offered that at only eight of its roughly 100 locations territory-wide, so a quarter of the network's sell points are in this one district.

The K11 Art Mall machine on B2/F at 18 Hanoi Road is the tidy option: mall hours of 10:00 to 22:00, security guards and good light. The Tsim Sha Tsui Mansion unit at Shop 13, 83–97 Nathan Road, sits in a laundromat and runs 24 hours, which makes it the only sell-back machine in the district after 10pm. The Kimberley Street machine is buy-only. CoinHero's published fees are 13% plus HK$100 to buy and 13% plus HK$25 to sell, with a HK$500 minimum and registration above HK$100,000. Our CoinHero review covers the membership that cuts these fees.

At the western end of Canton Road, CoinUnit has a machine on 2/F of China Hong Kong City, the ferry terminal building. It is open 08:00 to 20:00, takes only HK$500 and HK$1,000 notes and sells BTC, ETH, DOGE, LTC and TRX. It is handy if you are catching a boat, but mind the note rule: this machine will not take the HK$100 notes a money changer usually hands out.

13% is a steep price for convenience

On HK$5,000 of Bitcoin, a CoinHero ATM keeps about HK$750. An online exchange usually costs a fraction of that.

For visitors: what actually works

If you are only in town for a few days, three practical points matter more than any address. First, every machine here takes Hong Kong dollars only, and CoinUnit takes only HK$500 and HK$1,000 notes. Change money first and ask the changer for large notes. Second, bring your passport. CoinHero requires ID registration above HK$100,000 per transaction, and counters may ask for it far below that. Third, have your own wallet ready before you arrive, with the right network selected. An ATM will not hold coins for you, and a counter should never hold them on your behalf.

For small amounts a card is almost always cheaper. CEX.IO is one international option that sells crypto by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay, from spot fees of 0.15% or 0.25%. It was founded in London in 2013, is registered as a money services business with FinCEN in the US and holds a Gibraltar DLT licence. It is not licensed by the SFC. Hong Kong's regulator recommends the platforms on its licensed list, which you can compare in our licensed exchanges guide. Flying out? Our Lantau and airport page explains why there is no crypto ATM near the terminal.

USDT in Tsim Sha Tsui after the stablecoin law

USDT is TST's biggest crypto product. Most counter trades in Hong Kong are virtual asset for fiat, and USDT on TRC-20 or ERC-20 is the usual choice for cross-border traders who want dollar value without a bank wire. It is also the product the law has singled out.

In practice, TST responded in three ways. Some shops suspended USDT, BitsMark closed altogether, and others moved to private quotes on messaging apps. For you as a customer, this means a posted USDT board is now rare, prices come by WhatsApp, and there are fewer written records. If you want USDT or need to turn it into Hong Kong dollars, read our USDT to HKD guide first. It covers licensed routes, bank transfers and what the new HKD stablecoins from HSBC and Anchorpoint could change.

Three cases that started in Tsim Sha Tsui

May 2024: hell banknotes for HK$1m of USDT. A customer sent about HK$1m worth of USDT to a TST exchange shop and was paid in hell banknotes, the paper offerings burned at funerals. Police arrested three shop employees aged 31 to 34 and seized around 3,000 notes, Bitcoinist reported. Never release coins until you have counted and checked the cash yourself.

May 2025: the HK$118m mule ring. Police broke up a syndicate that had recruited people to open stooge bank accounts, withdrew the cash and converted it to crypto at exchange shops. Two members were arrested on the spot at a Tsim Sha Tsui crypto shop, and HK$770,000 in cash was seized before it could be converted. RTHK reported that 12 people were charged. The lesson for honest customers is that a shop handling dirty cash can have its wallets flagged, and coins that pass through them can follow you.

January 2026: the Sheung Wan yen robbery. On 30 January 2026 about ¥51m (roughly HK$2.57m) was robbed outside a money changer on Des Voeux Road Central. Of the six people arrested, two worked at a virtual-currency exchange shop on Nathan Road in TST and were suspected of helping handle the loot. About ¥7m was recovered from an exchange shop, according to HK01 and Wen Wei Po. The robbery happened across the harbour, as our Central and Sheung Wan page explains, but the money came back to Kowloon.

None of this makes every TST counter suspect. It does explain why the good ones ask for ID and the scam guide is worth ten minutes of your time.

Before you trade in TST

  • Pick a named counter with posted hours. Walk past anyone offering a better rate in a corridor.
  • Trade inside opening hours. For large sums use One Satoshi's K11 Atelier reservation desk or a bank transfer instead of cash.
  • Check the coin, the network and the wallet address on your own phone. Wait for confirmation before you hand over cash.
  • Count and check the notes at the counter when selling.
  • Keep the chat log and receipt. For suspected fraud, call 999 or the 18222 anti-scam hotline.

If TST does not suit you, Mong Kok, three stops north on the Tsuen Wan line, has the densest cluster in the city at 608 Nathan Road. Kwun Tong has quieter office-district counters on Hoi Yuen Road. And if all you want is a first HK$500 of Bitcoin, the quickest-way guide will likely get you there more cheaply than any machine on Nathan Road.

Frequently asked questions

Where can I exchange USDT in Tsim Sha Tsui?

The named options are One Satoshi at Shop 11 on the ground floor of Chungking Mansions, BitAny, and Crypto Panda, which quotes privately by WhatsApp. VBIT on Humphreys Avenue only pays out USDT, it does not sell it. Since 1 August 2025 the government has said OTC shops may not offer stablecoins to the public, so boards come and go. A licensed exchange with a bank account is the regulated route.

Is there a Bitcoin ATM in Tsim Sha Tsui that buys crypto back?

Yes, two CoinHero machines are listed as buy and sell: one on B2/F of K11 Art Mall at 18 Hanoi Road (10:00 to 22:00) and one at Shop 13, Tsim Sha Tsui Mansion, 83 to 97 Nathan Road, open 24 hours. CoinHero charges 13% plus HK$25 to sell. Check its live map before you go.

Can tourists buy Bitcoin with cash in Tsim Sha Tsui?

Yes. ATMs take Hong Kong dollar notes only, so change foreign cash first; CoinUnit machines accept only HK$500 and HK$1,000 notes. CoinHero needs registration with a passport or HKID above HK$100,000 per transaction. Counters may ask for a passport at lower amounts. Expect fees of 5% to 13% at machines, much less at a counter.

Is Chungking Mansions safe for exchanging money or crypto?

Chungking Mansions has the best-known cluster of foreign-currency changers in Hong Kong and One Satoshi runs a crypto counter on the ground floor. Plenty of travellers use it daily. Go during opening hours, use a named shop rather than someone who approaches you, count everything at the counter and never release cash before your coins arrive.

What is Crypto Panda Tsim Sha Tsui?

Crypto Panda is a USDT exchange service that advertises no minimum and no fees on its website and asks customers to request quotes by WhatsApp or Telegram. It does not publish a street address or opening hours. Press reports in August 2025 said it continued offering USDT by private inquiry after the Stablecoins Ordinance. It is not licensed by the SFC or HKMA.

Do I need ID at a crypto shop in Tsim Sha Tsui?

Often, yes. VBIT says it runs KYC and AML checks on all trades, BitAny says it must verify identity under anti-money-laundering law, and One Satoshi collects personal data above HK$80,000 according to the Bitcoin Association of HK. Bring a passport if you are visiting. A shop that needs nothing for a large trade is a warning sign, not a convenience.
