This One Satoshi review covers the city’s largest chain of walk-in crypto counters, trading as 一宗比特幣. In one sentence: One Satoshi is the most convenient place in Hong Kong to swap cash for Bitcoin or Ether with a human being across the desk, but it publishes no fee schedule, it is not licensed by the SFC, and every trade involves carrying banknotes.
As with all our reviews, the score is an editorial judgement of published information — the store list, the website, third-party guides and government statements — not a collection of customer ratings. Where a claim comes only from a secondary source we say so, and where the rules are about to change we explain how.
Verdict at a glance
Ten branches across Kowloon, the Island and the New Territories make One Satoshi the easiest human-staffed option in Hong Kong. You get a live price board, cash settlement and staff who will walk you through a first trade. You do not get published spreads, a licence for crypto, or any payment method besides cash — and the coming SFC dealer regime puts the whole model under review.
What works
- Ten branches, including busy MTR-side malls in Mong Kok, Causeway Bay, Kwun Tong and Sha Tin
- Staffed counters: you can ask questions and get a price before you hand over money
- Buy and sell, so it doubles as a cash-out point
- Low reported minimum of HK$1,000
- Weekend opening at most branches
Watch out for
- No published spread or fee schedule — you only see the price on the day
- Cash only at the counter; no FPS, card or bank transfer
- Not SFC-licensed; the MSO licence claim is unverified and would not cover crypto anyway
- USDT, the product most people came for, is restricted under the Stablecoins Ordinance
- Personal information collected above HK$80,000 (per BAHK); large trades need planning
What One Satoshi is
One Satoshi describes itself as “全港最大Crypto OTC” — Hong Kong’s largest crypto OTC — with “10+” physical branches. In practice that means a chain of small shopfronts, mostly on upper floors of shopping arcades, where you hand over Hong Kong dollar notes and staff send crypto to your wallet, or you send crypto to the shop and walk out with cash. The homepage shows a live price board and says it follows KYC, AML and CFT procedures, without publishing the thresholds.
That places it squarely in the segment the government calls “physical VA OTC shops”. A 2024 Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau consultation estimated around 200 such outlets in Hong Kong, ATMs included, and a legislator put the figure at “over 200” in 2025 — all unlicensed for crypto. One Satoshi is the biggest chain among them. Our directory of Hong Kong crypto shops lists its competitors, from VBIT to Crypto HK in Admiralty.
Coin ATM Radar also lists One Satoshi “Bitcoin Teller” points inside some shops, and its site menu has an ATM section. For most readers, though, the reason to walk in is the counter itself: a person who can quote a price, explain how a wallet address works, and count notes in front of you.
All ten One Satoshi branches
The list below comes straight from onesatoshi.hk/stores, read on 30 September 2026. Hours are weekday / weekend-and-holiday, as published. Several branches share one hotline, so call before a long trip — shopfronts in Hong Kong malls close and move more often than their websites update.

A few notes from the map. The Mong Kok branch sits in W Plaza at 608 Nathan Road, the densest coin-shop building in the city — a Wen Wei Po investigation counted about 15 crypto exchange shops and three ATMs on one floor. That makes price comparison easy, but it also concentrates risk (more below). The Tsim Sha Tsui counter is on the ground floor of Chungking Mansions, right by Exit E, and the K11 Atelier desk is an appointment-only office rather than a shop. Causeway Bay has two, one in Causeway Place above Exit E and a weekday-only office on Canal Road East — a few doors from CoinHero’s 24-hour flagship. Kwun Tong Plaza on Hoi Yuen Road serves the east Kowloon office crowd, and the four New Territories counters cover Sha Tin, Shek Mun, Yuen Long and Sheung Shui near the border crossings.
Which branch for a first visit?
On the Island, Causeway Place is the easy pick: straight out of the MTR, open at weekends, and close enough to CoinHero’s buy-and-sell flagship that you can compare a counter quote with a machine quote in ten minutes. In Kowloon, W Plaza gives you the most choice but also the busiest, least predictable corridors; Kwun Tong Plaza or the Chungking Mansions counter are calmer for a first trade. In the New Territories, Shatin Plaza beside Exit A is the most accessible. Watch the quirks: Shek Mun closes on Wednesdays, Sheung Shui shuts at 19:00 on weekdays, and K11 Atelier is for booked, larger trades only.
Prices, minimums and ID checks
One Satoshi does not publish a fee table. Its cost is in the spread — the gap between the price it pays and the price it charges — shown on the price board and quoted at the counter. We found no systematic public data on coin-shop spreads in Hong Kong; posted USDT quotes elsewhere have sat within roughly 0.5–1% of the USD/HKD rate for mid-size trades, but that is our inference from a handful of quotes, not a survey. The honest advice is to ask for both the buy and the sell price, compare with a licensed exchange on your phone, and walk away if the gap is wide.
| Item | What is published | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Fee / spread | Not published; live price board and counter quote | onesatoshi.hk |

| ID threshold | Personal information collected above HK$80,000 | BAHK guide (undated) |

| Coins | BTC, ETH, USDT (research); board showed BTC, ETH, SOL, TRX, BNB, XAUt | Research brief; onesatoshi.hk |
| Licence | Not SFC-licensed; MSO licence claimed by press, unverified | SFC list; Wu Blockchain |
The HK$1,000 minimum and HK$80,000 information threshold come from the Bitcoin Association of Hong Kong’s guide, which is undated and also mentions Octopus payments that the current website does not. Treat both numbers as indicative. Wu Blockchain describes One Satoshi’s KYC as voluntary for smaller amounts; either way, expect to show ID for large trades, and expect the shop to ask where the money came from.

Buy crypto now Operating since 2013 · Card & Apple Pay · Registered in the US, Gibraltar and SpainThe MSO claim and One Satoshi’s legal status
You will read that One Satoshi “holds an MSO licence”. That claim comes from a 2025 Wu Blockchain article; we could not confirm it on One Satoshi’s website, and the shop does not display a licence number online. You can check any claimed number yourself on the Customs register.
More importantly, an MSO licence would not mean what many readers assume. The Money Service Operator regime run by Customs under the Anti-Money Laundering Ordinance covers money-changing and remittance of fiat currency — swapping US dollars for Hong Kong dollars, sending money abroad. It is not a virtual asset licence. Crypto trading platforms are licensed by the SFC, and One Satoshi is not on the SFC’s list. Physical coin shops currently operate in a gap: legal to run with a business registration, but outside crypto-specific licensing.
That gap is closing. The government’s December 2025 consultation conclusions confirmed an SFC-licensed dealer regime covering crypto-for-cash conversions at physical locations, with HK$5 million paid-up capital, custody with an SFC-licensed custodian and no transitional period. The bill was due in 2026 but had not been gazetted by 30 September. A chain of ten branches is better placed than a one-room upstairs shop to license or partner, but nothing is guaranteed. Our regulation tracker follows the timetable.
USDT after the Stablecoins Ordinance
For years, the typical coin-shop customer wanted USDT for cash. That trade is now legally exposed. The Stablecoins Ordinance took effect on 1 August 2025, and in a September 2025 LegCo answer the government said VA OTC shops are not “permitted offerors” and cannot offer specified stablecoins to retail or professional investors. The HKMA said it would monitor and follow up.
Our research brief lists USDT among One Satoshi’s core products, but when we looked at the homepage price board on 30 September 2026 it showed BTC, ETH, SOL, TRX, BNB and XAUt — no USDT. Some shops moved stablecoin business to private quotes after August 2025. If you need to move between HKD and dollar stablecoins, read our USDT to HKD guide and the stablecoin rules explainer before you walk in with cash.
How a counter trade works
- Check the branch and the priceConfirm opening hours and today’s quote by phone or WhatsApp. Ask for both buy and sell prices.
- Prepare your walletHave your own receiving address ready as a QR code. Never use an address supplied by a third party. See our wallet guide.
- Agree the amount at the counterGet the rate, the total and the coin network (for example Bitcoin mainnet or Ethereum) confirmed before any money moves.
- Buying: hand over cash, then verifyStaff count the notes and send the coins. Wait at the counter until your wallet shows the incoming transaction.
- Selling: send coins, then count notesSend to the address shown by staff, wait for confirmation, and count the cash at the desk before you leave.
- Keep a recordAsk for a receipt or screenshot the transaction ID. You may need it for your own tax records or a dispute.
Safety tips for cash crypto trades
Cash trades carry risks that have nothing to do with price. In December 2025 a crypto shop owner was attacked by men with knives at closing time in W Plaza — the building that houses One Satoshi’s Mong Kok branch; nothing was taken, and the incident did not involve One Satoshi as far as reports show. Across town, fake “exchange shops” in West Kowloon took HK$14.8 million from 13 investors in 2024, and a Tsim Sha Tsui customer who sent about HK$1 million in USDT received hell banknotes. Most losses happened at shops that were not what they claimed.
Who One Satoshi suits
One Satoshi makes sense for someone who holds cash, wants a human to explain the process, and is trading a few thousand dollars at a time. First-time buyers who are nervous about scanning a QR code at a machine, people cashing out a modest sum, and residents near the Sha Tin or Yuen Long branches who have no ATM sell point nearby are the natural customers. Against a machine, the likely cost is lower: CoinHero’s published 13% plus HK$100 fee — see our CoinHero review — is hard for any counter spread to beat on the wrong side.
It suits you less if you want transparency on cost, a regulated complaint route, or regular purchases funded from a bank account. For those, an SFC-licensed platform with FPS deposits is cheaper and safer; see our licensed exchange list and the fastest ways to buy crypto in Hong Kong. For large amounts, a proper OTC desk with written confirmations beats a shop counter. And if you are selling rather than buying, compare routes in our guide to selling crypto for HKD first.
Our 6.6 rewards the network, the staffed counters and the two-way service. It is held back by the missing fee schedule, the unlicensed status, the cash-only model and the uncertainty around USDT. Published spreads or a licence under the new dealer regime would lift it.
Frequently asked questions
Where are One Satoshi’s shops in Hong Kong?
Its official store list shows ten counters: Mong Kok (W Plaza, 608 Nathan Road), two in Causeway Bay (Causeway Place and 1–2 Canal Road East), Kwun Tong Plaza, Yuen Long In-Citi, Sheung Shui, Chungking Mansions in Tsim Sha Tsui, K11 Atelier (reservation only), Shatin Plaza and Kings Wing Plaza 2 in Shek Mun.
What is the minimum at One Satoshi?
The Bitcoin Association of Hong Kong’s buying guide says the minimum trade is HK$1,000 and that personal information is collected above HK$80,000. One Satoshi does not publish these thresholds on its own website, so confirm them with the branch by phone or WhatsApp before you travel with cash.
Can I buy USDT with cash at One Satoshi?
Our research lists BTC, ETH and USDT as its main products, but since the Stablecoins Ordinance took effect on 1 August 2025 the government has said coin shops are not permitted to offer specified stablecoins to the public. On 30 September 2026 the homepage price board showed BTC, ETH, SOL, TRX, BNB and XAUt, without USDT.
Is One Satoshi licensed?
Not as a crypto platform. It is not on the SFC’s list of licensed virtual asset trading platforms. A Wu Blockchain article says it holds a Money Service Operator licence from Customs, which we could not verify. An MSO licence covers fiat currency exchange and remittance, not crypto trading.
Does One Satoshi accept FPS or bank transfer?
Its website says it accepts cash only in its branches. That keeps the counter simple, but it also means you carry notes to and from the shop, so plan the trip, go in daylight and do not publicise the amount. For bank-funded purchases, a licensed exchange with FPS is the usual route.
Is it safe to sell crypto for cash at a shop?
It can be, if you use an established counter, count notes at the desk, send coins only after the price is agreed and settle in one step. Hong Kong has seen fake exchange shops, counterfeit notes and a knife robbery attempt at 608 Nathan Road in December 2025, so treat any large cash trade as a security exercise.
