The short answer
For a Bitcoin ATM in Kwun Tong, head to Yue Man Square: CoinHero's machine at Shop 205 on the second floor is the only one in Kowloon East that also buys crypto back for cash. For a staffed counter, walk to Hoi Yuen Road, where One Satoshi (Kwun Tong Plaza, Exit B2) and VBIT (Fook Cheong Building, Exit B3) sit a few doors apart. Laundromat machines from CoinUnit and CoinHero cover Ngau Tau Kok and Kowloon Bay.
Kwun Tong is not Mong Kok. The old factory district south of the MTR line has turned into Kowloon East, the government's second business district, full of glass towers, co-working floors and small tech and trading firms. The crypto infrastructure matches the crowd. There are fewer counters and almost no touts. Customers are office workers who come at lunch or after six, and small-business owners who deal in larger tickets. Our research rates it the secondary hub in Kowloon after the Nathan Road corridor.
This page belongs to our Kowloon region guide. For fees across every operator, see the Bitcoin ATM hub. For all walk-in counters citywide, see the crypto shops directory.
Hoi Yuen Road: two counters, one block
Hoi Yuen Road (開源道) runs south from Kwun Tong station towards the waterfront through the heart of the old industrial grid. Both named crypto counters in the district are here, which makes comparing quotes a five-minute job.

One Satoshi is on the mezzanine of Kwun Tong Plaza, 68 Hoi Yuen Road, at Shop M4, reached from Exit B2. It keeps the chain's standard hours, 11:30 to 20:00 on weekdays and 11:30 to 19:00 at weekends and on public holidays, and buys and sells BTC, ETH and USDT for cash. The Bitcoin Association of HK guide puts the chain's minimum at HK$1,000 and says it takes personal details above HK$80,000. Our One Satoshi review has the full picture.
VBIT is at Shop A8 on the ground floor of Fook Cheong Building, 63 Hoi Yuen Road, about 100 metres from Exit B3, open daily 11:00 to 19:30. Its site lists BTC, ETH, SOL, BNB, DOGE and TRX, with USDT on the payout side only. It says KYC and AML checks apply to every trade and that it clears the shop for large trades for privacy. That is a pitch aimed squarely at the business owners in the surrounding towers. VBIT publishes no thresholds or spreads, so ask for an all-in HKD figure first.
Neither counter is licensed. Hong Kong's planned dealer regime, which will cover coin shops and ATM networks, will require HK$5m in paid-up capital among other conditions. The government has told LegCo there will be no deemed-licence transition, so plan on the assumption that any counter could change or close. The regulation explainer tracks the bill.
Bitcoin ATMs in Kwun Tong and Ngau Tau Kok
Kwun Tong's machines are spread out. One sits in a mall, the rest in laundromats among the industrial-turned-office blocks and, in one case, up the hill in a housing estate. CoinUnit lists three in Kwun Tong, CoinHero one plus one in Ngau Tau Kok, and aggregator data adds a Nitroswap machine. Localcoin shows one machine for the Kwun Tong district, but its public page gives no address.

The machine that matters is CoinHero at Yue Man Square, Shop 205 on the second floor of the YM² mall at 33 Hip Wo Street, open 10:00 to 22:00. On its 30 September 2026 locator, CoinHero offers buy and sell at only eight of its roughly 100 sites, and this is the only one in Kowloon East; with the Hang Hau unit now buy-only, it is also where Tseung Kwan O residents come to sell. Its FAQ lists 13% plus HK$100 to buy BTC or ETH and 13% plus HK$25 to sell, a HK$500 minimum, and registration with ID and a selfie above HK$100,000. The CoinHero review explains the membership that halves the fee.
CoinUnit's three sites are LaundrYup at 22 Ka Lok Street, open 24/7, Aegean Place in Hung To Centre on How Ming Street, which keeps shop hours, and Sunshine 24 in Shun Tin Shopping Centre, a bus ride uphill. All take only HK$500 and HK$1,000 notes. CoinUnit does not publish a fee on its pages; the HK$90 plus 6.9% quoted in search snippets could not be confirmed.
CoinHero's Ngau Tau Kok machine, in Sam Hei Building on Ting On Street, is the one to use after the malls close. It runs 24 hours, but it is buy-only, so it is no help if you need cash at midnight. Nitroswap's Yue Man Shopping Centre unit on Ngau Tau Kok Road appears only in aggregator listings, and we could not load Nitroswap's own location page. Treat it as a maybe. A sensible pattern is to use the two formats for different jobs. Buy small amounts at a laundromat on the way home, and take anything bigger to a staffed counter on Hoi Yuen Road, where the spread is narrower and there is a person to question if something goes wrong.

On a HK$1,000 ATM purchase, fees can take HK$230. Buying online by card or bank transfer usually costs a small fraction.
Operating since 2013 · Card & Apple Pay · Registered in the US, Gibraltar and Spain · Why this pick?Kowloon Bay and San Po Kong
Two stops west, Kowloon Bay is mostly offices, showrooms and malls. It has no walk-in crypto counter, but two machines sit on Ngau Tau Kok Road.
- ATM Operator-listedCoinHero – Kowloon Bay (Laundry 360) Shop 11B, G/F, Wang Kwong Building, 33 Ngau Tau Kok Road, Kowloon Bay 24 hours · buy only
- ATM Operator-listedCoinUnit – TBG Mall TBG Mall, 3 Ngau Tau Kok Road, Kowloon Bay 11:30–22:00 per our research file
CoinHero's Laundry 360 unit at Wang Kwong Building runs 24 hours but only sells crypto to you. CoinUnit's TBG Mall machine keeps mall hours. Older lists also placed a CoinHero at Kai Yip Shopping Centre. It was not on CoinHero's locator when we checked in September 2026, which is a good reminder to open the live map before you set off.
Further north in San Po Kong, Crypto HK runs a Members Club in Room C, 17/F, Foo Tak Industrial Building, 17 Sheung Hei Street, by WhatsApp appointment only. It is aimed at repeat and larger clients rather than walk-ins. Crypto HK's OTC page says cash deals under HK$100,000 need no booking at its public branches, while larger trades are arranged ahead.
Crypto for Kowloon East businesses: tax and banking pointers
Kwun Tong's towers house thousands of small firms: trading houses, e-commerce sellers, design studios, software start-ups. Some are asked by overseas clients to pay or be paid in USDT or Bitcoin, and a walk to Hoi Yuen Road looks like an easy fix. Before you do that on the company's behalf, three things matter more than the spread.
Tax treatment
Hong Kong has no capital gains tax, but crypto is not automatically tax-free. The Inland Revenue Department applies profits tax to gains that arise from a trade or business carried on in Hong Kong, judged case by case on the usual badges of trade. Crypto received as business income can be taxable, and salaries paid in crypto fall under salaries tax. The IRD's practice note DIPN 39 has a section on digital assets. For corporations the two-tier profits tax rates are 8.25% and 16.5%. Our crypto tax guide goes through the tests in plain language.
Records
Cash counters give you, at best, a slip. Your auditor will want the HKD value at the time of each trade, the counterparty, the wallet addresses and the purpose. If a supplier insists on USDT, a licensed exchange with a corporate account produces statements an accountant can use. A bag of HK$1,000 notes carried to an upstairs shop does not.
Banking
Hong Kong banks watch for frequent crypto-pattern transfers. Accounts tied to P2P USDT sales have been reviewed or frozen in the past. A company account that suddenly shows cash withdrawals followed by incoming FPS payments from strangers can trigger the same review. If crypto is becoming part of your business, route it through the SFC-licensed exchanges, and read the USDT to HKD guide before you accept stablecoins from a client.
The Hung To Road case: how a fake counter works
Kwun Tong's most instructive crypto story did not happen at either of the named counters. On 17 April 2025, on.cc reported, a man acting on his superior's instructions carried HK$1m in cash to an upstairs unit at Room 18, 27/F, 1 Hung To Road. The unit presented itself as a virtual-currency exchange, and he wanted USDT. Staff checked his ID, recorded the serial numbers and photographed the notes, which is all very professional-looking, then counted the cash while he waited. Fifteen minutes later the boss said no USDT had arrived. Staff insisted it had been sent and refused a refund. A third person then appeared and walked off with the money.
Legislator Duncan Chiu used the case to warn against choosing unprotected OTC services for a better rate or to skip identity checks, and to press for licensing. Our research also notes that fake-shop scams in Hong Kong cluster in West Kowloon and Kwun Tong. Separately, Ming Pao reported in April 2024 that a lone robber took about HK$200,000 from a Kwun Tong money changer. That was a traditional money changer, not a crypto counter, but the same streets carry the same cash risk.

Planning a trade in Kwun Tong
Come on a weekday. Both Hoi Yuen Road counters are busiest at lunch and after work, so mid-afternoon is quietest. If you plan to sell, price the trade at One Satoshi first and use the Yue Man Square ATM only if you need the machine's anonymity at a 13% cost. Bring ID for anything more than a few thousand dollars. Count cash at the counter, and never hand over notes before the coins arrive.
If Kowloon East does not have what you need, Mong Kok is about 20 minutes away on the Kwun Tong line and has the densest cluster in the city. Visitors might prefer Tsim Sha Tsui for its two sell-back machines. Heading the other way, the Sai Kung and Tseung Kwan O page covers the TKO line machines, including the Hang Hau unit that has switched to buy-only. And if the whole point is to put a little Bitcoin away without leaving the office, the quickest-way guide sets out the online routes.
Frequently asked questions
Where is the Bitcoin ATM in Kwun Tong that lets you sell?
CoinHero lists its machine at Shop 205 on the second floor of Yue Man Square, 33 Hip Wo Street, as buy and sell, open 10:00 to 22:00. It is the only confirmed sell-back ATM in Kowloon East. Selling costs 13% plus HK$25. For a better rate, the staffed One Satoshi counter at Kwun Tong Plaza on Hoi Yuen Road also buys crypto for cash.
Is there a crypto shop in Kwun Tong?
Yes, two named counters on the same street. One Satoshi is at Shop M4, M/F, Kwun Tong Plaza, 68 Hoi Yuen Road, near Kwun Tong MTR Exit B2. VBIT is at Shop A8, Fook Cheong Building, 63 Hoi Yuen Road, about 100 metres from Exit B3. Both open daily. Neither is licensed, because Hong Kong has no licence for crypto dealers yet.
Is there a Bitcoin ATM in Kowloon Bay?
Yes, two on the operator lists. CoinHero has a 24-hour buy-only machine at Shop 11B, Wang Kwong Building, 33 Ngau Tau Kok Road, and CoinUnit lists a machine in TBG Mall at 3 Ngau Tau Kok Road. A CoinHero site at Kai Yip Shopping Centre appeared in older lists but was not on CoinHero’s locator in September 2026.
Can my company in Kwun Tong accept or pay in crypto?
Nothing bans it, but tax and banking rules apply. The Inland Revenue Department treats crypto received as business income as potentially subject to profits tax, and salaries paid in crypto fall under salaries tax. Banks may review accounts that show frequent crypto-related transfers. Keep HKD-value records of every transaction and speak to your accountant first.
What happened at the Hung To Road crypto shop in Kwun Tong?
On 17 April 2025 a man took HK$1m in cash to an upstairs shop at 1 Hung To Road to buy USDT. Staff checked his ID and photographed the notes, then said the USDT had been sent while the boss claimed nothing arrived. Another person walked off with the cash. The case, reported by on.cc, is a classic fake-exchange scam.
Is VBIT Kwun Tong good for large trades?
VBIT says on its website that it clears the shop for large trades to protect client privacy, and that KYC and AML checks apply to all transactions. It does not publish thresholds or spreads, so ask for an all-in HKD quote and the documents needed before you bring cash. For very large sums, a licensed exchange or OTC desk with a bank transfer is safer.
